You know you are loved when you receive hand prints

We came home from our trip and found our apartment covered in hand prints.  Our young single adult after working on youth conference late one night, had an extra burst of energy and made tons of hand prints.  Then Kanzie decorated our apartment in hand prints.  We are still finding them months afterward.  We felt loved and the handprints are treasured.

Seminary Certificate of Completion students with teachers in Sibu

Durian in Sibu

Our next stop was in Sibu where we had Inservice and then out to dinner.  It is durian season.  President Chua and President Lai showed us how to really enjoy the fruit.  You take the whole section of the fruit and put it in your mouth to get the full effect of the flavor.  Then you take the pit/seed out of your mouth.  It is best to eat the fruit outdoors. The smell is very strong and does not leave for days.  We were also advised not to eat durian with carbonated drinks.  You can become explosive.  I found the flavor ok, but probably will not eat it very much.  It gives you gas and I was tasting the fruit throughout the day through burbs.  The flavor of the fruit did not improve the second time around.

Mukah

We then flew to Mukah for Inservice training.  We went out and visit some of our youth in their homes.  Mukah is a small city on the South China Sea.  It is about 8-9 hour drive on narrow, bumpy, winding roads.  The large trucks drive like they are in sport cars and passing on curves is common.  This trip we flew but to save costs we will be driving more.  I'm very impressed with the youth of Mukah.  Jackson iis on a mission now.  Rizal, our seminary teacher, just put his papers in.  He is such a leader and strength to the youth.  And another young man will go on a mission when he finishes this year of school.

John and June Family

John and June family is growing.  Joshua and Ellisa had a baby boy the day after they returned from the funeral.  Alicia is expecting a baby next May.  Trevor was not able to come to the funeral.  And Jordan and Michelle are getting married in January of 2014.  It was so good to see them all.
