As we were traveling to see a National Monument, we stumbled onto the longest running trading post on or off a reservation, The J.L. Hubbell Trading Post. Above is a Navajo Hogan. It has eight sides with the door facing east, toward the rising sun. This hogan has a dirt roof. Hogans are still built and used but they now are build out of modern building supplies.
This is the interior of the trading post.
