Seminary and institute

We are starting to get to know our youth in the seminaries and institutes. Here are two of the classes. They are wonderful youth. Very friendly. I'm very excited to get to know them

Beautiful homes

All over Kuching there are beautiful homes. Brent has decided to make a collection of pictures of the gates. They are unique to the owners. We will include gates periodically. There are many large beautiful homes in this area and then between two magnificent homes there was this home. This happens all over Kuching.

Our Hot Rod

After dropping the Nielson's off at the airport, we started home driving our new hot rod, a Proton. Elder Boyter jumped into the right hand drivers seat and I pulled out the garmin and away we went. We put in our directions and tried to follow the instructions. We got home from the airport safely. And we are driving all over town. There are very few bicycles on the road. In fact I have only seen the elders and sisters riding bikes. Lots of motor bikes. They are more like scooters. They pass on both sides of the car. Lots of round abouts with cars zooming in and out. It takes elder Boyters full attention to watch for cars and my full attention to read the garmin and find the directions and road signs. Most roads are not marked

Each day is better at feeling comfortable driving.

Elder and Sister Nielson

Elder and Sister Nielson are the missionaries we are replacing. Here they are packed and ready to go. They spent six days with us showing us the ropes. They have done a wonderful job.

Sister Nielson organized a piano program of 14-16 students. They had a music camp and recital on Saturday. It was very impressive. I will be taking it over. I'm still doing a lot of praying to see what direction to take the program. But it will be directed to establishing more adult training so the members can keep the program going after the missionaries go home.

They have also worked hard in establishing seminaries and institutes. Member retention is difficult and a few are carrying the load of the many. The people of Malaysia are wonderful people but feelings are tender and having confidence to fill church callings is difficult.

Our apartment building

This is the exterior of our apartment. There is a security gate on all homes and apartments. The little dog likes to sleep on the cooler stairs. We walk by the dog and it doesn't ever move. Very peaceful setting.

Our Apartment

We are staying in a park like setting. We are in the middle of the city but very private. The green of this country is beautiful. Very humid. Great for my curly hair. The District President children thought I looked like someone from the ABBA singing group. I'll have to google them to see what they mean. The apartment is great. Two bedrooms and two bathes. We have a king size bed. We have covered porches on both sides of the apartment. One has the washer machine ( much larger than I thought) and the stove. It is nice to have the stove outside. It keeps the heat out of the interior. There is a/c. The main rooms have a temperature control a/c units. Halls, bathrooms do not. In our apartment we have 3 units. It keep our apartment very comfortable. There are 4 sisters living on the floor above us and Elder and Sister Moulder live on the same floor as us. They are family history consultants missionaries.
The sisters in the picture are Sister Tehrani and Sister Rhodes.

Heart attack

We flew into Kuching and were met by Elder and Sister Neilson. They took us to our new apartment where we were heart attacked by the sister missionaries. Love it!!!
