Louisa Faye Callahan Fryer Obituary

Louisa “Faye” Callahan Fryer passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Grants Pass, Oregon at the age of 83.  She and her husband, William D. Fryer, have been residents of Corvallis since 1954. 
Faye Fryer was born in Loa, Utah on August 18 , 1930 with her twin brother, Lewis Ray Callahan to Jessie Myrtle Johnson and Joseph Irvin Callahan.  They were the twelfth and thirteenth children of a family of fourteen.  When she was eight years old her family moved to Nyssa, Oregon.
On October 13, 1953 Faye married William D. Fryer in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They soon moved to Corvallis, Oregon to attend Oregon State University. Four children joined the family, Jessie “Marie” (Brent Boyter), William (Mary Hirko), John (June Southern) and Richard.
Faye will be remembered for her fun sense of humor, blunt speaking, energy, and joy of life.  She lived life with passion and was always young at heart. 
She graduated from Oregon College of Education (Western Oregon University) in Monmouth, Oregon with honors.  She did substitute teaching for a short time then started a business of care homes for the elderly which she ran until they retired.
Faye served in many responsibilities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After they retired, she and her husband served missions in Serbia and later Croatia.  They also managed  the church camp in Alpine for 3 ½ years.
Faye is survived by her 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grand children, and younger sister, Loya. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (October 2013) and her grandson, Austin.
The viewing will be at 9 am, Monday July 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4141 NW Harrison Blvd.  The funeral will follow at 11 am.  Demoss-Durdan
